What Happened In Year 1815?

  • January 3, 1815 – Austria, the United Kingdom, and France form a secret defensive alliance treaty against Prussia and Russia.
  • January 13, 1815 – War of 1812: British troops capture Fort Peter in St. Marys, Georgia, the only battle of the war to take place in the state.
  • January 15, 1815 – War of 1812: American frigate USS President, commanded by Commodore Stephen Decatur, is captured by a squadron of four British frigates.
  • February 6, 1815 – New Jersey grants the first American railroad charter to John Stevens.
  • March 1, 1815 – Napoleon returns to France from his banishment on Elba.
  • March 2, 1815 – Signing of the Kandyan Convention treaty by British invaders and the King of Sri Lanka.
  • March 16, 1815 – Prince Willem of the House of Orange-Nassau proclaimed himself King of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, the first constitutional monarch in the Netherlands.
